Similar to that K91 TV we saw Lenovo tease back in January, its K71 brethren’s also stuffed with Ice Cream Sandwich, and according to the outfit’s online shop it’s ready to hit Chinese shelves by the end of the month. Along with running a flavor of Android four-dot-oh, this 42-inch smart TV is also packing an undisclosed 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, WiFi and 3D capabilities, plus a gaming remote control (you know, to use while playing TurboFly 3D). The K71′s said to be carrying a 6499 yuan (around $1,030) price tag once pre-orders go live on April 10th, while pricing and availability for the other expected models still remains unknown. Mum’s the word on when, or if, these ICS, LED TVs will ever come to US shores, but we’ll keep you in the loop if any news pops up. [Read More]

Digitimes points to a report in Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claiming that Apple is planning to introduce updated iMac models in June, a bit later than some had initially hoped given Intel’s Ivy Bridge launch schedule that would see quad-core desktop processors launch at the end of this month.
PC ODM Quanta Computer and chassis supplier Foxconn Technology are expected to benefit from the launch of Apple’s latest iMac desktops, which are set to launch in June with Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge processors, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report citing sources from the upstream supply chain. Smartphone seekers brand-loyal to the Microsoft-made mobile operating system Windows Phone will be glad to know that the Nokia Lumia 900 is out now – and reviewers are loving it. Everyone including our own Michael Crider seems to be lauding Nokia’s effort in this device which takes their well-received Windows Phone lineup thus far and boosts it to what might be the perfect chassis size with a 4.3-inch display inside. The only down-side appears to be – if tech reviewers across the web are correct – the operating system. [Read More]

One evening shortly after their seventh anniversary, Louis and Shelley Silberman had an argument while preparing dinner. Neither recalls what that fight was about. But both remember how, in the middle of it, Ms. Silberman suddenly screamed at her husband: “We are done being married! I want you to move out!” [Read More]

You’ve heard it before: Those first few seconds of interaction with someone new are crucial. Scientists have been very clear about how snappy we are when it comes to judgments — and that these appraisals are shown to be accurate. We trust these impressions, and with good reason. [Read More]

Going through life as a “tall, slim, blonde” woman is harder than it looks, according to British columnist Samantha Brick, who has become the focus of criticism and ridicule for writing that her life as a beautiful woman has been especially difficult. [Read More]

Rihanna has no apologies. When the pop star made her reconciliation with abuser Chris Brown public in February — she released a duet on the remix of her song, “Birthday Cake” — the backlash was loud, but she wasn’t listening. “I respect what other people have to say,” the “We Found Love” singer, 24, tells Elle in its May cover story. “The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently. It’s very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that’s all right. I don’t hate them for it. Because tomorrow I’m still going to be the same person. I’m still going to do what I want to do.” [Read More]

appcampus

Windows Phone may be picking up the pace in the hardware department thanks to some Nokia know-how, but the platform still lags behind its competition in the apps department. Team Redmond and team Espoo are taking steps to remedy that dearth of software, however, with their new AppCampus development program. The program will call Finland’s Aalto University home, and is being created to provide design and technological support in addition to business coaching to help app developers build quality apps that make money. (Sound familiar?) In keeping with the motive to help developers grow their businesses, the program lets devs who utilize its services keep all the IP rights in their apps as well. AppCampus isn’t only preaching the Windows Phone gospel either, folks wanting to code for Symbian and Series 40 are invited, too. Of course, supporting such a program isn’t cheap, which is why both Microsoft and Nokia are kicking in 9 million euros ($12 million) each to make it happen. It’s a good start, guys, but you’ve got a long way to go. [Read More]
